I thought my cheap tripod was fine until I saw a star trail photo from a guy in Flagstaff
He showed me his $300 setup and the difference in sharpness was like night and day. Anyone have a good mid-range tripod they'd recommend for a beginner astrophotographer?

Forget the legs, the head is what matters.

Right, but a horse with a perfect head and no legs is just a lawn ornament. @jake_thompson that committee thing is exactly what I'm getting at. They'd argue for days about the shape of the ears and forget the whole thing needs to actually run. It's like designing a car with a great dashboard but no wheels.

Remember that old saying about the horse designed by committee?
