My autoguider cable died during a 3-hour Orion shoot near Sedona

I was set up at a dark spot off Route 89A, tracking M42 with my 8-inch scope. Halfway through, the guide star started drifting, and I realized a loose connection on my ST-4 cable was the culprit. I ended up doing 30-second unguided subs instead, and honestly the 47 keepers came out sharper than my usual 5-minute ones. Has anyone else saved a night with a last-minute plan B like that?

Thirty second subs just mean you gave up on real detail, not that you "saved" anything.
