Serious question, did anyone else start checking their astro photos for satellite trails before editing, not after?
Up until about 6 months ago I would shoot a session, load everything into my editor, and then spend an hour cloning out streaks at the end. After a buddy in Flagstaff showed me how many Starlink passes were hitting my 45 second subs, I started running every single frame through a quick blink check first. Now I reject the bad subs in camera and my keep rate went from around 7 in 10 down to 4 in 10, but my editing time got cut in half. It stings losing that much data on a clear night, but less time fixing trails means more time actually stacking. Curious if anyone else has changed their workflow like this, or do you just let the stacking software reject them for you?
Man, this is the same thing that happened to me with my email inbox, spending way less time fixing junk up front beats drowning in it later every time. Culling early just works, even if it hurts to toss the frames.
