That one Reddit user who told me to try stacking frames saved my Jupiter shot
Some guy on a forum said to take 3 minute video clips instead of single shots and stack the best frames in Registax. I tried it last week with my 8 inch dob and got a Jupiter photo that actually shows banding for the first time. Anyone else have a random internet tip that totally changed your astrophotography game?

Good thing that random internet stranger didn't tell you to just stack your dirty laundry instead, or you'd be looking at blurry socks instead of Jupiter's bands. I tried the video method after someone on CloudyNights said to use a cheap planetary cam instead of my DSLR, ended up with a stack of 500 frames that looked like a pixelated potato but hey, at least it was my potato. Now I just need someone to tell me how to fix the damn collimation without wanting to throw my dob off the balcony every time.

Have you tried using a cheshire eyepiece and a collimation cap together? Honestly, that combo saved my sanity after I spent a whole night just loosening and tightening screws for no reason. Ngl, the laser collimator I started with was a total waste of money, it was never aligned right. Tbh, just taking it slow and making tiny adjustments with the secondary mirror first helped me stop wanting to yeet my scope off the balcony.
