Appreciation post: I finally got through a whole grocery trip without my headphones after six months of trying.
My therapist in Madison suggested I start by just walking the perimeter of the store for five minutes once a week, and that tiny step built up my tolerance until last Tuesday I managed to get my full list (milk, bread, the usual stuff) without any sound blocking at all, which felt huge, so has anyone else found a small, weird practice run that actually helped with something bigger?

Honestly that's a huge win, congrats. Tbh I did something similar with the post office. I would just go stand in line for a minute, then leave, without even mailing anything. Ngl it felt silly but it got me used to the noise and the crowd. After a few weeks I could actually run my errand. Those tiny practice runs really do add up.

Wait, so you were basically doing drive-bys on the post office? That's hilarious. I love that you just stood there and dipped, @emma768. It's like you were training for a weird errand marathon. Honestly though, that's actually a smart way to trick your brain into not freaking out. I might have to try that next time I need to go somewhere packed.
