Heard a cashier say 'everyone's a little autistic' and it got me thinking
It was at a grocery store in Phoenix last week, and it made me realize how often people use that phrase without understanding. It can really downplay the actual daily challenges. What's a better way to explain autism when you hear comments like that?

Ugh, that phrase is SO dismissive. What do you think people are actually TRYING to say when they use it? Like, are they going for "we all have quirks" but just saying it in the worst possible way?

My friend's sister said that to her about her ADHD and it felt like she was just saying "stop being difficult" without actually listening.
