That time a gas station clerk called me out for not looking at faces

So there's this gas station on the corner of 5th and Elm near my apartment. I go there like 3 times a week for soda. The clerk there, Ben, he's like 60 years old with this big grey beard. One day about 3 weeks ago I'm paying for my drink and he says "you never look at my face when you talk to me." I didn't even realize I was doing it. He said it in a nice way but it hit me hard. Has anyone else had someone just point out your eye contact thing out of nowhere like that?

Bet honestly that guy did you a favor. Most people won't tell you stuff like that to your face because they don't want to be rude. But now you know something about yourself that you can actually work on. It's like having a weird habit you never noticed until someone points it out in the mirror. Bet you catch yourself doing it all the time now though right? Funny how that works.

Yeah @lily97 is right, I had this old neighbor once who just said "you talk too fast" and now I hear it every time I open my mouth. It's like that moment in a movie where someone hits pause and points at the screen.
