Trying to find a phantom brake squeal on my Civic, day 4 and I am losing it
My 2016 Civic started squealing from the front right about two weeks ago, only between 15 and 25 mph, and only when the brakes were cold. I figured pads, easy job, maybe 45 minutes in my garage on a Saturday. That was 4 days ago. I have had the wheel off 6 times, replaced the pads, greased every slide pin, checked the rotor runout with a dial gauge, and even swapped the caliper bracket from the left side to see if the noise moved. It did not move, which somehow made it worse, because now I know it is not the bracket. I have watched maybe 3 hours of forum threads from guys in Ohio and Arizona who had the same noise and solved it with everything from a new wheel bearing to just turning up the radio. So what am I missing here, is it the dust shield or the wheel bearing and how would I even tell without throwing $200 at parts?
