Blew $60 on a cheap timing light from Harbor Freight

It flickered like crazy on an old Chevy 350 and I couldn't set the timing right, anyone else ditch the cheap stuff for a better one?

I mean, I had the same issue with one of those cheap ones on a small block Ford. Ended up just borrowing my buddy's old Snap-on and it was night and day, no flicker at all. Maybe it's just me but sometimes you gotta spend a little more to not fight the tool the whole time.

Fair point, the old Snap-on stuff is usually worth tracking down.
