Old timer at the parts store called me out for using impact guns on everything

He said I was wrecking torque converters by zipping pan bolts on tight with my impact. Switched to a torque wrench for trans pans and haven't had a drip since. anyone else have a cranky old mechanic correct your method?

Had that same lesson the hard way. Old guys know their stuff.
