A dispatcher in Amarillo saved me $600 on my car move with one question
I was about to book a carrier for my move from Phoenix to Nashville and the quote was sitting at $1,850 for an open transport. The dispatcher asked if I could wait 9 days instead of 3 because a carrier was already running that route empty, and it dropped to $1,240. She also told me to take photos of all four corners of the car with a timestamp before the driver loads it. Now I always ask about backhaul runs and never book on a tight timeline if I can help it. Has anyone else had luck calling direct instead of using a broker site?
Booked a move from Denver to Tampa last spring and the broker quoted me $1,600. Called a carrier direct out of Orlando and the guy told me he had a truck coming back empty from Colorado the next week. Ended up paying $1,050 just by waiting five extra days. He also told me to wash the car before photos so the driver can't blame any scratches on the trip. That timestamp tip is smart too, I never thought about that part. Brokers just add a middleman fee for basically the same phone call.
