Shoutout to the $475 I lit on fire with a deposit on a car transport broker in Dallas
Back in 2021 I was moving from Dallas to Seattle for work and needed my 2014 Civic shipped. I found this broker online with good reviews and paid a $475 deposit up front. Big mistake. They kept pushing my pickup date, first by a week, then by three weeks. Every time I called, a new person gave me a different story. After 5 weeks of my car sitting in a Kroger parking lot and me paying $22 a day to store it, I found out they just farm it out to whoever bids lowest. The actual driver they finally sent wanted another $300 cash on delivery, way over the quote. I ended up fighting the deposit for 3 months and got back $200. If you're shipping a car, call the actual carrier with the trucks, not a broker with a call center. Has anyone here actually gotten a deposit back from one of these places, or is that money just gone?
