A ramp guy at BWI asked why I kept pulling the same breaker, and it hit me
Last Tuesday I was tracing a ghost fault on an old 737 and swapped two LRUs before I finally sat down with the wiring diagram like I should have from the start. A ramp guy walked by and asked why I kept resetting the same breaker instead of reading the fault codes first, and honestly he was right. I slowed down and found a chafed wire behind the panel in about 20 minutes. Why do we always reach for the parts cannon before the manual? Curious how you all break that habit.
Check the wire diagram first even when it feels slow, because nine times out of ten the fault is a rubbed wire or a loose pin and not the box. I made a rule for myself: no parts swap until I've traced power and ground to the thing that's actually dead. Sounds dumb but writing the fault code on a sticky and taping it to the panel keeps me from running in circles.
