Hit my 500th connector solder joint on a single Cessna 172 panel today

I was wrapping up a Garmin G5 install on a 1978 Cessna 172 and stopped counting my solder joints after 400. Then I got curious and tallied up the ones on the audio panel, transponder, and NAV unit. Ended up at 507 total for just one panel. That felt insane because I usually lose track around 100. My hand was cramping and I had to redo three joints where the flux splattered weird. The customer asked how long it took and I just laughed. Has anyone else kept count on a big install and hit a crazy number like that?

A bit dramatic counting every single one, don't you think? You hit 500 and your hand was cramping - that's just a Tuesday for anyone who does this stuff regularly. Flux splattering and redoing three joints is barely a speed bump, not some heroic feat. Plenty of guys bang out panels twice that size without keeping a tally like it's a marathon. Maybe ask yourself if the count matters or if you're just looking for applause.

and yeah @barbara278, people do this with everything now like it's a contest instead of just getting it done.
