Stumbled on a 1980s 737 panel layout in a museum near Denver last weekend

The old round dials and analog gauges were so much easier to trace than the glass cockpits I deal with now. Has anyone else gotten to work on those older birds and find them simpler to wire?

Worked a lot of 727 panels back in the day. Same generation of analog gear. The wire tracing was just simpler without all the data bus nonsense. You could follow a single circuit from the gauge straight to the breaker with a meter and be done in ten minutes.

Yeah but I think you're missing how much easier digital stuff is for troubleshooting when you've got the right tools. Sure the old stuff was simple in its own way, but plugging a laptop in and getting a direct fault code beats chasing wires any day in my book.
