TIL I was testing continuity wrong for like 6 months
Was working on a King Air pitot static system last Tuesday and couldn't figure out why my meter kept beeping on a line that shoulda been open. Senior guy walks over, looks at my setup, and goes "dude you got the leads in the wrong jacks". I'd been using the ohms and diode jacks for continuity testing the whole time. Felt like a total idiot. Anyone else have a basic thing you did backwards for way too long?

@barbara278 that AC/DC thing is exactly the kind of mistake that makes you feel dumb after... I started labeling my meter with little tape flags for the jacks I use most, just wrote "CONT" on a piece of masking tape and stuck it near the right holes. Took about a week before I stopped second-guessing myself but it broke the habit. Now I double check the jacks every time before I even touch a probe, learned that lesson the hard way.

Oh man, that's rough but I totally get it. Did something similar with a multimeter on a car once, kept getting weird readings and thought the battery was dying. Turned out I had it set to AC instead of DC for like three months, just never bothered to double check the settings. We all have those moments where the obvious thing is staring right at us and we just miss it completely.
