Why does nobody talk about how bad the lighting is in most hangar bays

I was working on a CRJ900 at a regional hub in Memphis last night and could barely see the pin connections on the back of a PFD. My headlamp kept dying and the overhead fluorescents flickered so bad I almost missed a bent pin. Any of you guys swap out the hangar lights yourself or just deal with the headache?

Oh man, the haunted house vibe is too real. I swear half the time I'm working under a flickering fluorescent I half-expect a gremlin to pop out of the landing gear. The shadows are the worst though - I once spent ten minutes chasing what I thought was a leaky hydraulic line on a 737 and it was just my own shadow from a weird angle. My headlamp has a permanent death rattle now and I just accept that I can't see anything past arm's length after dark. Honestly at this point I'm convinced hangar designers get a bonus for making maintenance as difficult as possible lol.

Man oh man, tell me about it. I swear half the hangars out there were designed by someone who never actually had to fix a plane at night. My headlamp is basically a permanent part of my skull at this point, and every time it dies I just stand there blinking like an idiot. I tried swapping out a ballast once and ended up triggering the breaker for half the building, so now I just keep a pile of cheap flashlights in my toolbox. The flickering lights make me feel like I'm working in a haunted house, just waiting for something to jump out. And don't get me started on the shadows, I've definitely mistaken a crack in the floor for a loose screw more times than I'd like to admit.
