Hot take: my first B2B client came from a Home Depot run last month
I was buying a $14 fitting for a leaky sink in Baltimore and started chatting with a guy in the plumbing aisle who turned out to run a 40-truck fleet. He signed a $2,400 pilot with us two weeks later just because I asked what was slowing his dispatch down. Where do you all actually meet your first customers, because cold email has been dead for me?
How much of that $2,400 pilot came from the fact that you were standing right in front of him instead of sitting in his inbox? I ask because I've had the same thing happen at a tire shop and a kids soccer game, and every single time the deal closed 10x faster than any email thread. There's something about a real conversation where the guy can see your face and hear your voice that cold email just can't copy. So do you think it's the setting, or is it that you asked a real question about his business instead of pitching? And if it's the second one, then maybe the problem isn't cold email being dead, it's that most cold emails never ask anything worth answering.
