PSA: My old mentor shredded my sales pitch in 5 minutes flat

Ran into my first startup advisor at a coffee shop in Austin last week and he tore apart my current pitch deck line by line. He said 'stop trying to sound smart, just tell me who you save money for' and honestly it hit different because he was right about all 3 deals I lost last quarter. Anyone else had a mentor drop a truth bomb that completely shifted how you sell?

lol nobody ever talks about the flip side of this - having a mentor who actually remembers your old pitches and can track how you've been bullshitting yourself over time. That's the real value right there. Most people get feedback from people who only see the current version of your pitch, so they don't catch the patterns. Your guy probably noticed you've been hiding behind fancy words for six months straight instead of just saying "I save restaurants 15% on produce costs" or whatever. That's the kind of truth bomb that stings because it means you knew better but got lazy.

@briancampbell nailed it, the pattern catching is where real growth happens.
