Stumbled on a customer retention hack at a coffee shop in Austin

I overheard a founder say they track which customers are reading their emails before sending a renewal notice. They got a 20% bump in renewals by reaching out early. Has anyone else tried timing your outreach based on engagement data?

...and honestly, it's one of those things where you kick yourself for not trying it sooner. I've done similar stuff with our newsletter list, just tracking who opens and clicks before sending a renewal reminder. The trick is to not be creepy about it, you know, just a simple "Hey, saw you've been reading our updates, wanted to see if you had questions before your plan renews" kind of vibe. It really does bump things up, probably because it feels like a real human connection instead of a robo-spam reminder. Totally worth the 15 minutes it takes to set up the segment in your email tool.

Follow up on that, @tessa_kelly - how do you handle it when someone opens but never clicks? Do you still send the reminder or skip them entirely?
