Got caught in a hailstorm on the Highline Trail in Glacier and had to make a call at 2pm
I was 6 miles in on the Highline Trail near Logan Pass when the sky turned gray and pea sized hail started coming down sideways with no tree cover for a mile in either direction. I threw my pack over my head, ran hunched to the Granite Park Chalet turnoff, and waited it out under the eaves for 90 minutes until a ranger came by and said the storm was sitting on the pass. Has anyone else bailed on that route mid day, and did you backtrack or push on to the chalet?
