Logged my 500th mile on the Superior Hiking Trail and did not expect that number to hit me so hard
I started keeping a paper log of every mile on the SHT back in 2021 and just added up the total on Sunday, it came out to 503 miles. What got me was realizing that is roughly the same as walking from my front door in Duluth to Minneapolis, and I did it all in 20 separate weekend trips. I thought the number would feel like bragging rights but it mostly made me think about how many of those miles were just me being stubborn about finishing a section. For folks who track their total mileage, do you count approach miles and road walks or only the trail proper? Trying to figure out if my number is honest or padded.
