My pack's hip belt buckle snapped on day two of the Teton Crest Trail
It was a plastic side-release buckle, and the whole thing just popped apart going over a boulder field near Hurricane Pass. I had to use a piece of parachute cord as a jury-rig for the last 30 miles. Anyone have a favorite brand for a simple, metal replacement buckle I can buy online?

Ouch, that's the worst timing for gear failure. Have you checked if the pack maker sells metal buckle kits? Sometimes they're a perfect fit and way cheaper than a whole new belt.
