Shoutout to the guy who called my route planning 'a scenic commute'

I was showing my plan for a 4 day loop in the White Mountains to a friend last month, and he just said 'looks like you're connecting parking lots with the prettiest roads between them'. It hit me that I was always picking trails just to get from point A to B. Now I build trips around specific spots, like planning a whole day just for the alpine zone near Mount Washington. Has anyone else had a comment flip how they see a map?

Man, that's a great way to put it. It turns a trip from a checklist into a real experience. I started looking for the best single view or swimming hole and building out from there.

Exactly. That shift in thinking changes everything. I used to burn myself out trying to hit ten spots in a day. Now, if I find one truly great place like @casey909 said, I'm happy to just stay there and really see it. The checklist feels like work, but building a day around one good thing actually feels like a vacation.

That "checklist feels like work" idea is interesting, but for me, the planning and moving between spots is a big part of the fun.
