That 3,000 mile figure for the PCT keeps getting quoted wrong

I was looking at the official Pacific Crest Trail Association data last night and they list it at 2,650 miles. Not 3,000. Every forum post and influencer keeps rounding up and it bugs me because that extra 350 miles changes how people plan resupplies and permits. Has anyone else actually checked the mileage numbers from the source instead of just repeating what they heard?

Honestly who cares if its 2650 or 3000, its still a stupidly long walk. People gonna plan their resupplies fine either way, they just gotta check actual maps instead of memes.

Start by pulling up Guthook on your phone instead of arguing about the exact number. The trail changes every year with reroutes and new side trails anyway. Met a guy last summer who thought he was at 1500 miles but was actually at 1575 because some data was old. Check the actual water sources and road crossings for where you're at right now. The overall count matters way less than knowing where the next campsite is.
