The time I found a shortcut avoiding that switchback hell on the JMT
Last summer I was dreading that endless uphill near Muir Trail Ranch until a ranger told me about the old cattle trail that cuts off a solid 2 miles and 800 feet of climbing. Has anyone else stumbled on forgotten use trails that actually work better than the official route?
