Tried to save weight by leaving the stove at home on the Presidential Range and ate cold soaked oats for 3 days
I figured dropping 14 ounces from my pack for a 3 day trip across the Presidentials in New Hampshire was worth it, so I left the stove and fuel canister behind. Turns out cold soaked rolled oats with peanut butter turn into a paste that tastes like wet cardboard, and by the second night on Mount Madison I was so miserable I almost bailed at the next hut. Anyone got a cold soak meal that actually doesnt make you hate yourself, or am I just a stove guy now?
