My brother in law paused Interstellar to prove the time dilation math was wrong and we missed 40 minutes of the movie
So over Thanksgiving my brother in law, who teaches high school physics in Dayton, kept pausing Interstellar to explain why the water planet doesn't work with the black hole's spin. He pulled out a notebook and everything, did the whole calculation right there on the couch, said the tidal forces would rip the ship apart way before they landed. My sister finally grabbed the remote and told him nobody cared, but honestly it ruined the whole dinner because now I cant stop thinking about it during every rewatch. Do you all have that one relative who cant just let a movie be fun, or is it just mine?
My uncle does the exact same thing but with war movies. He paused Saving Private Ryan like six times to point out that the sniper wouldn't have that scope in 1944, and my aunt just kept refilling her wine glass and staring at the ceiling. The worst part is he's usually right, so you can't even argue, you just have to sit there and take it. Now I can't watch anything with him without wondering what he's gonna nitpick next.
