My mom convinced me to switch from sourdough to commercial yeast and I'm mad she was right
Been doing sourdough for about 2 years now. Thought I was a purist. Then my mom came over last weekend and watched me feed my starter for the 4th time that day. She just said 'you spend more time on that jar than your actual family'. Got me thinking. I tried a simple yeast bread recipe from King Arthur - 2 hour rise, shaped, baked. Tasted great. My family actually ate it without complaining. I still love sourdough but dang if she didn't have a point about the hassle. Anyone else feel guilty for liking the 'easier' option?

King Arthur's no-knead recipe cuts the work even more if you try that next time.

You said your family actually ate it without complaining and that's supposed to be a win? Look, sourdough is a commitment and that's the whole point. It's like the difference between a microwave meal and something you spent all day slow-cooking. Yeah the microwave is easier but you lose all that depth and character. Your mom has a point about time but convenience isn't always the best thing for your baking or your soul.
