My sourdough starter is 7 years old today, which I never thought would happen after I almost threw it out in 2019.
Seeing that date made me realize how much a part of my routine it's become, so what's the oldest starter you guys are still baking with?

Yeah, that 2019 almost-toss is the real story. Like @claire64 said, that moment of doubt is a killer. Most starters die from neglect, but almost killing it on purpose and then bringing it back? That's next level. It's not just old, it's a survivor. Makes you wonder how many bakers have a starter with that kind of comeback history.

Hold up, is it really that deep? It's just fermented flour and water. Yeah, it's cool it survived, but people act like it's a family heirloom or something. You can make a new one in a week that works just as good. I've killed starters and started new ones, and my bread tastes exactly the same. I think we give these things too much credit sometimes.

Seven years? I almost dropped my phone. You nearly threw it out in 2019 and it's still going? That's wild. Mine died after I forgot it in the fridge for two months during a move. The fact yours survived that moment of doubt is honestly amazing. It must be a real beast of a starter by now.
