My sourdough starter is finally strong enough to double in 4 hours

I've been feeding this thing for almost 3 months now, and it was always so sluggish... taking 8 or 9 hours to really rise. This morning I did my usual 1:1:1 feed with King Arthur bread flour, and when I checked after my lunch break, it had already hit the rubber band on the jar. It just felt like a real corner turned, you know? Like all that daily care actually paid off. Has anyone else had a starter that took forever to get reliable, and what finally did it for you?

Remember mine was a total couch potato for ages. I switched to feeding it with warm filtered water instead of straight from the cold tap, and that seemed to be the missing piece. The temperature change just gave it the little boost it needed to get going. It's wild how one small tweak can make all the difference after weeks of the same routine.

That moment when something you've been tending to finally clicks is the best feeling. It reminds me of houseplants, you know? You water them on schedule for months with no new growth, then one day there's a fresh leaf out of nowhere. It's proof that steady, quiet effort builds up to a real change, even when you can't see it happening day to day. Your starter finding its strength after all that time is a perfect little example. Makes the daily routine feel less like a chore and more like a partnership.
