Swapped my liquid yeast for dry after 4 failed sourdough batches
I kept getting this weird metallic taste in my sourdough and thought it was my starter or the flour. Tried adjusting fermentation times, even changed my water source after reading about chlorine. Then a baker at the farmer's market in Portland told me my liquid yeast might be old from the store shelf. I switched to a dry yeast packet for my next loaf and the taste vanished completely, plus the rise was way better. Has anyone else had liquid yeast go bad silently without looking off?

That metallic taste is a dead giveaway, how long was that liquid yeast sitting in your fridge before you swapped?
