Frosting warm cakes was my habit until a messy lesson
I always frosted cakes right out of the oven. It made a huge mess every time. Last month, I waited until they were room temp. The frosting spread smooth and held up. That change was a game changer for me. Now I set timers and walk away. Baking wins need time, no shortcut, lmao.

Honestly, why wait if it tastes the same?

Seriously, is waiting for cake to cool that much of a game changer?

Look, the whole cooling thing is overrated. If you frost a warm cake, yeah, it might slide a bit. But it tastes the same. I've served cake straight from the oven and nobody complained. The texture is fine, just a bit more moist. Waiting an hour doesn't make it magically better.
