I thought the 'room temperature eggs' rule for cake was just old wives' tales. My dense, sad pound cake from last week proved me wrong.

Stick with @riverg75 on this one. Room temp eggs just blend into the batter so much smoother, you won't get those cold streaks or lumps that mess up the texture. It's one of those small things that really does change the final bake.
