My sourdough starter went from smelling like gym socks to actual bread in 9 days
Kept a jar of flour and water on my counter in Fargo and for the first 4 days it smelled like wet cardboard and I almost tossed it twice. Around day 6 something clicked, the thing doubled in size after feeding and got all bubbly and tangy, and by day 9 I baked a loaf that actually rose instead of turning into a brick like my first two tries. Anyone know if the timing depends on how warm your kitchen is? Mine sits around 68 degrees and I'm wondering if I should move it closer to the stove.
