Rainwater made my sourdough starter go bad

Wanted to bake more sustainably. Now I have to toss it and start fresh.

Tried that once too. My rain barrel water killed the starter and three houseplants. My sustainability era was a short one.

Yeah, "killed the starter" is putting it lightly. What exactly happened to the plants? Did they just wilt, or did you get some weird mold growing on the soil too?
