A teller in Boise told me my deposit slips looked like a ransom note, and she was right
I used to fill out deposit slips at home before heading to the bank, just scribbling amounts wherever there was space. Last month a teller in Boise slid one back across the counter and said, 'Honey, I can't tell if this is 300 or 800.' Turns out she'd been guessing for weeks and once shorted my account by $50 because my 5 looked like a 3. Now I print every number in the little boxes, one digit per box, no exceptions. Takes me an extra 40 seconds but I haven't had a single hold or mix-up since. My wife thinks it's hilarious that a grown man needs handwriting rules, but honestly the boxes exist for a reason. Anyone else get called out by a teller and totally change their system after?
