Found a way to avoid those stupid ATM fees on vacation
I travel to Chicago a few times a year and got tired of paying $4.50 at random ATMs. So I opened a checking account at that local credit union on Clark Street, and now I use their ATMs for free. Has anyone else found a bank that refunds out-of-network fees? Mine doesn't.

Did you hear about that online bank, Chime, or one of those that refunds all ATM fees? I read something about it on a travel blog a while back, and people were saying they never pay a cent at out-of-network machines. Could be worth looking into if your credit union isn't covering you. I mean, opening a local account is smart for sure, but if you're only there a few times a year, maybe an online bank would be easier. They usually have no fees and you can use any ATM. Just a thought, because those $4.50 charges add up fast, especially if you're grabbing cash a few times a day.

Wait, does Chime really refund ALL ATM fees? I thought they only cover fees at specific networks or up to a certain amount, not every random ATM.
