Found a weird trick to stop overdraft fees that my bank never mentioned

I kept getting hit with $35 overdraft fees every few months, usually on small stuff like a $4 coffee. My bank's app kept pushing their overdraft protection plan, which costs $10 a month. Last month I just turned off overdraft entirely in the settings menu, buried three layers deep. Now any purchase that would go negative just gets declined instantly, no fee. Has anyone else found hidden settings like this that save actual money?

Oh man, I learned this the hard way too, but with a much dumber twist. I once paid a $35 fee on a $2.50 vending machine candy bar because I forgot about a recurring subscription. Turning off overdraft was the best thing I ever did, but I felt like a total idiot for not finding it sooner. My bank hides that option like it's a secret menu item at a fast food place, buried under all the upsells for their paid protection plans. I swear they count on people being too lazy or embarrassed to dig through the settings. It's honestly a little scammy when you think about it, but at least now my coffee runs are safe from random fees.
