Hit 500 credit card transactions in a single month for the first time

I've been tracking my spending for years but never really looked at the count, just the dollar amounts. Last month I tallied up and I made 512 separate purchases using my debit and credit cards combined. That's like 17 transactions a day on average. It made me realize how many tiny things I buy without thinking, like coffee or parking or random Amazon stuff. For me it was a wake up call about all the little fees and interest charges piling up. Has anyone else ever counted their transaction volume and been surprised at the number?

actually 512 transactions seems like a lot but i counted mine once and it was 487 so youre not too far off the norm for someone who uses plastic for everything. i dont get why its a "wake up call" though unless you have a budgeting problem or youre carrying a balance with interest. i buy coffee every day and small amazon stuff and i never pay interest because i pay off my cards every month. the fees you mentioned are really just the interest charges if you dont pay in full, not the transactions themselves. i think youre overthinking it unless you actually racked up hidden fees or interest.

Yeah, I see it differently. The wake up call for me wasn't about interest or fees, it was realizing how many tiny decisions I was making on autopilot every single day. It's less about the money and more about the mental clutter of 17 separate purchases a day just to get through life.
