I finally got my business account sorted after a 3-week hold

My bank flagged a deposit from a new client as suspicious last month. It was a normal check for a roofing job, but they froze the whole account. I had to send them the signed contract, my business license, and three months of statements. It took 22 days and about 5 phone calls to get it unlocked. Has anyone else had a simple deposit cause this much trouble?

Did the bank ever explain exactly what made that specific check look suspicious to them? I've had holds put on checks before but never a full account freeze, that seems really extreme for a normal business transaction. They must have some kind of trigger for new payers or certain amounts that just shuts everything down. It's crazy they can do that without warning and then make you jump through so many hoops to get your own money back.
