My tap to pay glitch at a food truck taught me to always check the terminal screen

I was at a taco truck in Denver last Saturday and the reader said approved but the vendor never got the money, so after 20 minutes of confusion I found out the terminal showed a declined message on the second screen that I completely ignored, has anyone else had a payment go through on their end but fail on the merchant's?

Ugh, that's brutal! I bet that taco was the most expensive one you've ever eaten, lol. Honestly, those little screens are sneaky little demons, they hide the bad news down there like a kid hiding broccoli under a napkin. I always just tap and shove my phone in my pocket, so I'd have been in the exact same boat, cussing at the poor vendor. At least now you know to give that thing a proper stare down before you walk away.
