PSA: I was messing up my business expense tracking for months because of a simple bank setting
I run a small online shop and for the longest time, my bookkeeping was a total headache. Every month, I'd spend hours trying to match up my card purchases in my bank app with my receipts. The problem was my debit card transactions only showed the merchant name, like 'POS 12345 STORE'. Last week, my accountant in Austin asked for a receipt for a $87.50 charge, and I had no clue what it was for. That's when I logged into my business banking portal online, not the app, and found a 'transaction details' page I never used. I turned on a feature called 'Enhanced Memos' in the settings. Now, every card swipe adds the city and a clearer store name from the payment network itself. It sounds small, but it cut my reconciliation time last month from about 4 hours to maybe 30 minutes. Has anyone else found a hidden bank feature that saved them a bunch of time?

Oh man, I feel this so hard. I spent like a year manually typing location details into my spreadsheet for every single card swipe, my fingers were about to fall off. I mean, I just assumed that's what everyone did, that it was normal bookkeeping torture. Finding that one settings toggle felt like unlocking a secret level in a video game, but for being slightly less miserable at admin work. I'm almost embarrassed it took me that long to poke around the actual website instead of just the app.

Ugh, the app vs website thing is so real! I did the same with my mileage tracker, typing in every single address by hand. Total nightmare. Then I found the "import trips" button on the desktop site, hidden in plain sight. Felt like a genius and an idiot at the same time. Always check the full site, the apps are always missing half the features!
