Serious question, has anyone else had a bank hold a $900 rent check for 6 days and leave them scrambling?
So this happened two weeks ago in Phoenix and I'm still annoyed about it. I sent my rent check like normal, the money was sitting right there in checking, and my landlord texts me on the 4th saying he never got paid. I call my bank and they tell me it's in a 'review hold' and can take up to 7 business days because the check was flagged as unusual. I've written this exact check to the same guy for 14 months straight, same amount, same everything. I had to borrow $900 from my brother to pay rent late and eat a $50 late fee on top of it. Has anyone figured out how to get a bank to drop one of these holds, or do I just need to switch to cash transfers?

My buddy had the same "unusual" flag on a check he'd written monthly for years, bank told him tough luck.
