Thought mobile wallets were a gimmick until my card got eaten at an ATM in Chicago

I used to swear by my physical debit card and thought Apple Pay was just for show. Then last month I was at a Chase ATM near the Loop and my card got stuck inside for 20 minutes. Had to use my phone to grab coffee and groceries that day and realized it worked everywhere without any hassle. Has anyone else had a moment that made them switch over to tap and pay?

Man, @cameron_owens49 got me. I was standing there smacking the machine like it owed me money before I finally gave in and pulled out my phone. Glad I'm not the only one who got forced into the future by a busted ATM.

Did you at least put up a fight with the ATM before waving your phone around like a wizard? Sounds like the machine just wanted you to upgrade.
