Vent: I swore off credit union debit cards after 2 overdraft fees, then saw my statement balance hit $0
Three years ago I got hit with two $32 overdraft fees in one weekend at my old bank in Detroit and I moved everything to cash and a credit union debit card out of pure spite. Last Tuesday I pulled up the app to pay my electric bill and the checking balance read exactly $0.00 for the first time since I opened the thing, and it wasn't because I was broke, it was because the automatic transfer to savings finally lined up with my pay schedule. I don't know why zero dollars scared me more than a negative number ever did. Anyone else ever feel weird about a $0 balance even when you know the money's just parked somewhere else?
