Found out my VPN logs were being sold to advertisers

I paid $12 a month for a 'no log' VPN for two years before a tech-savvy buddy showed me a forum post proving they were selling anonymized data. Has anyone else dug into their VPN's fine print after buying?

...and that's the thing, they hide the real details in the privacy policy not the marketing. I had a similar thing happen with a different VPN, turned out the "no logs" was just for connection timestamps but they kept metadata on what sites you visited. What I do now is run a DNS leak test every few months and check the privacy policy for any updates. Also worth paying with a privacy.com virtual card so you can kill the payment if they start sneaking stuff in later.

$12 a month for two years that's rough, how did you find out they were lying about the no log claim?
