Hearing about the ban on rain data where my aunt lives opened my eyes
I mean, everyone says blocking weather info is for safety, but idk. Maybe it's just me, but stopping people from knowing about rain patterns seems wrong. It stops farmers from planning and hides bigger issues. Like, in some places, they ban talk about floods to avoid panic. But that just means folks can't prepare. It makes free speech feel less important than control. I think we should let people share what they know, even if it's scary.

That ban on rain data reminds me of when my town hid storm forecasts.

Hiding storm forecasts is bad enough, but it makes you wonder what else they're not telling you. Like, my cousin's town stopped sharing river level data, and then a bunch of new houses got approved right in the floodplain. It's never just about the weather, it's about what gets built or bought before the truth comes out.

Seriously, that is so dangerous. When our county tried that, a bunch of us got really loud at town hall meetings. We just kept showing up and asking the same question about public safety. Honestly, it took months, but they finally backed down. What worked was getting a small group to set up our own basic weather alert system using cheap sensors. Now we trust our own data more than theirs anyway.
