Just realized a book I read in high school is now banned in a Florida county
I read 'The Handmaid's Tale' for a class back in 2018, and a teacher friend just told me it was pulled from her district's shelves last year. This happened because of a new state law, and it makes me wonder if banning a book about losing freedoms actually helps keep them. Has anyone else seen a specific title disappear from their local library recently?

Yeah, it's weird how often the books they ban are the exact ones that show why you shouldn't ban books. Makes the whole point for them.

Right? I'm basically a walking ad for banned books at this point. My high school library pulled half my favorite reads.

That thing hannah_williams said about the banned books making the point for them is so true. It reminds me of when my old town tried to block the public pool from hosting a gay pride event, and the protest crowd was bigger than the 4th of July parade. It just drew way more attention to the whole thing.
