My cousin in Singapore said he couldn't even share a news article about a local protest on his social feed because the link was blocked.
It wasn't even a call to action, just a report from a small outlet, and it made me realize how a ban in one place can make you scared to even talk about it anywhere else, so what's a story you've heard that got silenced before it could spread?

Man, I used to think stuff getting blocked was just about keeping order online. Then a friend in college tried to share a study about water quality near an old mine back home. The report page went dead overnight. Not a big news story, just data. But watching people act like it never existed? That got me. It's not about the one link. It's about how the silence spreads. You start to forget what you were even looking for.

Yeah, that "quiet fear" part @emerychen mentioned really hits home. It's not just about the link being blocked, it's about how that makes you second guess even bringing the topic up in a private chat. I heard about a factory pollution report from a town a few hours from here that just never made it past the local paper. No big outlets picked it up, and the paper's own website had the article taken down a day later. You just stop hearing about it, and that feels worse than a loud argument. Makes you wonder how many local stories just vanish like that.
